How many confirmations do exchanges need?
Each exchange sets its own number, often somewhere between a handful and a few dozen blocks; check the deposit page of your exchange. Wallets usually treat received funds as spendable after a few confirmations. See sending and receiving Zcash.

How long does a Zcash transaction take?
It is usually included in a block within a couple of minutes; 10 confirmations take about 12.5 minutes with 75-second blocks, or about 4 minutes after NU7.
Why is my shielded transaction taking longer?
Light wallets must sync and build a proof before sending, and network upgrades occasionally require a wallet update. The block time itself is the same for shielded and transparent transactions.
