Zcash halving countdown
The next Zcash halving is expected around late November 2028, when new ZEC issuance is cut in half. Under the current rules it falls at block 4,406,400; the NU7 upgrade planned for around 5 November 2026 makes blocks three times faster but is designed to keep the halving date, so the block number will change.

How NU7 changes the countdown
The NU7 network upgrade is planned at block 3,543,405, expected around 5 November 2026 (developers have not ruled out delays). It cuts the target block time from 75 to 25 seconds. The NU7 proposals (ZIP 237) are designed to preserve the halving schedule in time, so the halving should still land around the same date, but blocks will be three times more frequent and each block smaller.
Our countdown therefore works in time: before NU7 it counts 75-second blocks up to block 4,406,400; after NU7 it counts 25-second blocks up to an estimated block 6,132,390 (block 4,406,400's position scaled by three after NU7). Reports on the draft NU7 rules give the same height, 6,132,390, for the end of the current funding streams, but the rules were still drafts on 21 October 2026, so treat the block number as an estimate; the date is the useful figure.
Why the date is an estimate
Real block times vary around the target, so the estimate moves a little from day to day. A halving does not affect your wallet or your coins; it only changes how much new ZEC miners receive. See Zcash supply.
