The legal situation in the United Arab Emirates
Each of the UAE's main crypto regulators prohibits licensed activity in privacy coins: Dubai's VARA since 2023, ADGM's FSRA since 2025 and the DFSA in the DIFC since 12 Jan 2026. Binance's VARA-regulated entity dropped ZEC in April 2025, and Kraken delisted ZEC for UAE residents in June 2026. The rules do not explicitly name ZEC, but exchanges have treated it as covered. Holding in a personal non-custodial wallet is not prohibited by these rules.
