The legal situation in Canada
No Canadian statute bans owning or trading Zcash. Kraken's September 2025 Canadian delisting covered XMR only, and its regional-restrictions page lists XMR but not ZEC for Canada. Coinbase's Canadian ZEC page states ZEC is available on its exchange. Registered platforms remain subject to CSA and FINTRAC rules.
Key facts

- Tax: 50% of capital gains are taxable; business trading income is fully taxable.
