Zcash address validator
Paste a Zcash address. The tool identifies its type (transparent t1/t3, shielded Sapling zs1, unified u1 or TEX) and verifies its checksum, entirely in your browser. A valid checksum catches typos; it cannot tell you who owns the address.
Zcash address types
| Starts with | Type | Privacy |
|---|---|---|
| u1 | Unified address (one address bundling several receivers) | Shielded when both wallets support it; recommended |
| zs1 | Sapling shielded address | Shielded |
| t1 / t3 | Transparent address | Public, like Bitcoin |
| tex1 | TEX address (transparent-source-only, ZIP-320) | Public; used by some exchanges |
| zc | Sprout (deprecated) | Do not use |
For unified addresses the tool checks the Bech32m checksum and prefix; it does not decode the receivers inside. See shielded vs transparent addresses.
What it cannot tell you
A valid address can still belong to a scammer, and clipboard malware can swap an address you copy for another valid one. Compare the first and last characters with what the recipient shows you, and send a small test amount before large payments. More in Zcash scams.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool send my address anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Should I use a t1 or a u1 address?
Use a unified (u1) or shielded address for privacy. Transparent t1 addresses show amounts and history publicly.
What is a tex1 address?
A TEX address (ZIP-320) only accepts funds sent from transparent addresses. Some exchanges use them for deposits.
